Holocaust Remembrance Day
On Holocaust Remembrance Day, we mourn for the millions of lives lost and we honor the everyday heroes, the neighbors who risked their lives to protect others. As a student of German culture, I've spent countless hours immersed in the history surrounding the Holocaust. For me, if we are to learn one thing from this immense horror, it is that we cannot allow ourselves to forget the humanity of others - nor can we stand silently by when we see others being dehumanized be it in small ways or large ones. To me, that is how we honor the lives lost.
There is a lot of hurt in the world right now - both near and far from us - what are we doing to see the humanity in others and lend a helping hand?
